Samsung announces curved smartphone Galaxy Round

The specs of the Galaxy Round are somewhat similar to the Galaxy Note 3 that Samsung launched a few weeks earlier. It is powered by a quad core 2.3GHz processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage with a 2800mAh battery.

The phone will be sold in Korea only for now, and Samsung hasn't announced pricing or potential U.S. availability.

The news comes a few days after Samsung's Korean rival LG announced that it will start mass producing a flexible OLED display for smartphones

Samsung works on rugged Galaxy S4 smartphone

The Korean tech leader Samsung has been working on a new rugged version of its flagship smartphone – the Galaxy S4. The rugged version is almost done and should appear soon under the trade name Galaxy S4 Active.

The first unofficial pictures of the new device show a smartphone that features a somewhat new design when compared to the Galaxy S4. The rugged version now comes with three front screen buttons and a reinforced rear shell with four screws. Most of the specs remain the same though – a 4.99-inch Super AMOLED display at 1080p resolution, an Adreno 320 GPU and the same quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor at 1.9 GHz found in the Galaxy S4. The new smartphone also keeps the famous 13 MP rear camera.
There’s no word on the release date but the Galaxy S4 Active has successfully passed Bluetooth SIG certification, which hints the new smartphone may be on the market soon.

upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4

Information uncovered through the Android benchmarking tool confirms that contrary to recent reports that Samsung is planning a single global model of the Galaxy S4 featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, it will in fact pack something much beefier.

Samsung Galaxy S4 mock-up placeholder (small)

According to the spec sheet, the Galaxy S4 – or at least the unit tested – is home to an Exynos Octa 5410 CPU clocked at 1.8GHz. For the uninitiated, this Samsung’s latest eight-core system-on-chip that was unveiled in January at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Interestingly, the handset features GSM, WCDMA and LTE connectivity, which suggests there might yet be a single international variant of the S4 offering 4G support out of the box.

This is teamed is with a PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU and 2GB of RAM, with benchmarks results placing the S4 far ahead of the most powerful smartphones currently on the market, including the LG Optimus G and the Google Nexus 4.

The specs also reveal that the Galaxy S4 is home to a 4.99-inch Full HD (1920×1080) display and a 13-megapixel Camera, as had been rumours for aeons.

specifications of the device!

It looks like the Galaxy S IV features an Exynos Octa 5410 CPU clocked at 1.8GHz, PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU, 2GB of RAM, 4.99″ Full HD (1920×1080) display and a 13 Megapixel Camera.

The device also runs Android 4.2 out of the box. The Galaxy S IV retains the menu, back and home buttons, like its predecessors.

The most interesting thing is that the device supports GSM/WCDMA/LTE networks with an Exynos processor on-board. So that means there will be only a one single variant of the device, the GT-I9500.

Previously, Samsung used to release two variants of their high-end devices, for example the GT-I9300 and GT-I9305.

One variant used to have GSM connectivity and the other one had LTE connectivity but this is not the case with the Galaxy S IV. The Galaxy S IV will be a world phone.

Waterproof Sony Xperia Tablet Z Coming to UK

In a short and somewhat low-key announcement at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Sony spoke about its recently-revealed flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z, before revealing that the Tablet Z will be coming to the UK, US and others in the spring.

The tablet will be priced at £399 for the Wi-Fi-only version, and £499 for a 4G model, making it an attractive and well-priced alternative to the iPad,
Announced in Japan last month, the Xperia Tablet Z is a 10.1in device with a full HD 1920 x 1200 resolution display, and is powered by the Snapdragon S4 Pro, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM.
Measuring just 6.9mm thick, the Xperia Tablet Z is thinner than all other tablets, even the iPad mini, and at 495g it's comfortably lighter than its rivals too.
The tablet features an 8-megapixel camera, NFC for contactless payments, and an IR blaster to control your television. As with the Xperia Z smartphone, the Z tablet is waterproof and can be submerged in water for up to 30 seconds.

Intel demands ultrabooks add touchscreens

Get ready for a wave of touchscreen laptops.

That blurs the line even further between a notebook PC and a tablet. It's a move Microsoft is also backing: Its recently released Windows 8 operating system works on both desktop and mobile devices, but it operates much more smoothly with a touchscreen.

Intel which makes the processors most laptop makers use to power their devices, has been trying to steer the industry toward lighter, sleeker, faster machines that take full advantage of its latest chip advances. It calls those machines "ultrabooks," a term it created and gets to write the rulebook for.

Intel boldly predicted at last year's CES that ultrabooks would dominate the industry and account for 40% of all consumer notebook sales by the end of 2012. The reality came up far short. Industry analysis firm IHS iSuppli chopped its ultrabook estimates for the year in half in October, citing the devices' "nebulous marketing and unappealing price."

Price has been a big sticking point: Ultrabooks typically go for more than $1,000. Intel claims that price tag will come down this year, even with the expensive addition of a touchscreen. The company predicted that entry-level ultrabooks will retail for $599 by end of the year -- just in time for the 2014 holiday season.
Kirk Skaugen, who heads Intel's PC client group, said the fourth-generation ultrabooks coming out this year "will be game-changers."

The new ultrabooks will run on Intel's upcoming Haswell chips, which are the first processors designed specifically for ultrabooks. The processors can provide "all-day battery life" and are designed to work "naturally" with voice and touch, Skaugen said.

The touch focus is part of Intel's push for "perceptual computing," the company's clunky term for a cool concept that wraps up recent advances in mouseless computing. The idea, Skaugen said, is that PCs will "have senses, like we do": touch, sight, hearing, and so on.

Intel demoed a few experiments along those lines from its developer partners, including a gesture-controlled version of the game "Portal 2" that lets users move items around the screen simply by grabbing at the air. A "Where's Waldo?" demo showed off eye-tracking, in which a user simply scanned the screen and blinked when he found the stripe-clad cartoon.

Intel also unveiled a new smartphone platform that's aimed at emerging markets, codenamed Lexington. Acer, Lava International, and Safaricom will offer devices that run on the low-power platform.
Jumping into this market was a no-brainer, Intel said: It cited forecasts that the so-called "value smartphone market" could reach as many as 500 million units by 2015.

On the tablet front, Intel announced a new quad-core Atom processor family called Bay Trail. The chip will deliver twice the computing power of current Intel-powered tablets, and it's slated to be available by the 2013 holiday season.

upcoming Sony's Xperia Tablet Z Is Extremely Thin and Light

Sony has launched a new flagship tablet in Japan: the 10.1 Xperia Tablet Z.

The device is very thin and light for a tablet with a 10.1-inch screen: it is 6.9mm thick and weighs 495 grams. For comparison, the 9.7-inch, Wi-Fi-only iPad weighs 652 grams.

The Xperia Tablet Z is no slouch when it comes to specifications, either: it sports a Qualcomm 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage memory, further expandable via microSD memory cards. Its screen has a full HD (1920x1200) resolution, and it comes with an 8.1-megapixel camera, NFC, LTE, and Sony S-Force virtual surround sound.

Last but not least, the device is also dustproof and waterproof, all of which makes it one of the most versatile Android tablets we've seen. There's no word on pricing and availability yet.

    Car Chevrolet Sail sedan

While the Sail U-VA hatch will compete with the Maruti Swift, naturally the sedan version will be pegged against the Swift Dzire, Toyota Etios, Nissan Sunny and the others in this segment. The Sail sedan is important as the Aveo has not managed to meet sales expectations despite being a good car. The current mid-size segment is bursting with capable sedans, plus another big launch is coming in the form of the Honda Amaze, so the Sail sedan has to be a capable and talented sedan if it has any chance of competing and winning against the above mentioned cars.

    Chevrolet Sail Sedan Design

The Sail sedan looks like the hatch up until when you see the back which is just like the practise other manufacturers also follow. The Sail U-VA hatch is a handsome looking small car with pleasant detailing and that same styling philosophy continues onto the Sail Sedan. The Sail has a dual-port grille and looks handsome but it’s not futuristic looking, rather a safe design but something that will appeal to all.  As you can see from the pictures the Indian version has a strong dose of chrome to make it more up-market and it will work as we love chrome! The Sail sedan just like the hatch features the gold Chevrolet emblem showcased in the middle. Three sidelines provide the car a three-dimensional look.

    Chevrolet Sail Sedan Interiors

Step inside and the Sail sedan has virtually identical interiors to the Sail hatch. Which means that it has the same conservatively designed but practical cabin that will appeal to the Indian car buyer. Like the Sail U-VA it has a spacious cabin and getting in and out is easy. The rear seat has lots of legroom and headroom plus the bootspace is also pretty good. Feature list is decent and you have features like Bluetooth phone pairing and music streaming. When it comes to storage the Sail sedan has lots of spaces to put all your stuff like in the rear centre armrest. The Sail sedan thus scores on practicality and space.

    Chevrolet Sail Sedan Engines

As in the hatchback version there are two engines on offer and both motors are impressive. The one which is expected to the hot seller is the diesel. The  1.3l SMARTECH turbo-charged diesel engine is the now famous Fiat sourced 1.3-litre Multi-jet unit. The diesel develops a healthy 77 bhp at 4000rpm, it’s smooth and has good low-end grunt. The model has been tuned and changed to suit the Indian market which will definitely appeal to the customers. The 1.2l SMARTECH petrol engine makes 85 bhp of power and is a smooth unit though as we have experienced the petrol is best enjoyed when pushed hard. Overall we prefer the diesel for its better power delivery at low speeds and of course better mileage. The Sail sedan has a five-speed manual gearbox.

    Chevrolet Sail Sedan Fuel Economy

The diesel Chevrolet Sail sedan delivers a very good ARAI mileage of 22.1 kmpl which is expected as this diesel engine is famous for its performance and economy. Thus for the economy conscious the diesel is the one that matters. But that is not in any way saying that the petrol is bad as it delivers a really good figure of 18.2 kmpl (ARAI).

Chevrolet Sail Sedan price in India

The Chevrolet Sail sedan will not have it easy as there are lots of credible rivals out there in the midsize space. The big question is the price and we know Chevrolet plans to have acompetitive price for the Sail sedan. So expect a starting price of Rs 6-6.5 lakhs for the base petrol to Rs 7.5 -8 lakhs for the top diesel variant.

Chevrolet Sail Sedan launch date for India Chevrolet plans to have many launches this year and the Sail sedan will be its first in 2013. Chevrolet will launch the Sail sedan on 31st January 2013. The Sail sedan with its clean simple design and practical, spaccious cabin has a lot to offer and if priced well could turn out to be a hit for Chevrolet in India.

Concept Laptop With Transparent AMOLED Display

Concept Laptop With Transparent AMOLED Display

The OLED display technology is came with a super concept laptop that feature a see-through AMOLED display. The display has a resolution of 960x540. The transparency(optics) of the screen is about 40% but color are very decent and vibrant. As per my opinion, the technology is new and very much practical but the idea would be a lot of practical if they add an option to switch the transparency on and off as needed.
